Dr. Andrew M
Miller

AP Sciences, AP Statistics, AP Research, AP US History and AP Government

I graduated Magna Cum Laude as a Phi Beta Kappa from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in biology and obtained my interdisciplinary biological PhD from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I spent three years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institutes of Health investigating the immunology of liver disease, strengthening my academic writing skills with first author publications in prominent journals of gastroenterology and hepatology. As an academic mentor teacher and tutor, I apply a holistic approach, including executive functioning and the development of growth mindsets, to students, with or without various learning differences, in middle, secondary, collegiate, graduate, and professional schools while providing differentiated subject specific or test prep educational support.

I have extensive expertise in STEM subjects including fundamental to graduate-level natural and physical sciences, mathematics, and medical sciences. I have vast experience in teaching and tutoring classes of AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Statistics, and AP Research in addition to non-stem advanced placement courses including AP US History and AP Government.

All students I have assisted for AP classes have received an A in the course, and all students prepped for the AP examinations have scored a 5.

I have assisted students from secondary Title I remediation to academic and mentoring support and assistance, leading to Ivy league-undergraduate, graduate, and medical school acceptance, in addition to obtaining academic and athletic scholarships.

I adjust my instructional delivery to accommodate the learning style of each individual student in one-on-one tutoring and differentiated instruction for groups and classes all with a foundation built on the development of trust and solid rapport.

Teaching and experience in education spans from intervention middle school and high school students in mathematics to serving as a biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology professor at the university level to providing education to medical school students. 10 years of experience providing assistance to students in multiple subjects of math and science, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Statistics at various levels and in test preparations including AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics, AP Statistics, the ACT, SAT, SAT subject tests, TEAS test, GRE, and the MCAT. He has strong record of developing rapport with students as well as ensuring aspects of executive functioning and test strategies.
